Applegate, Rachel B. (Nee Buck) Of West Allis, born on September 18, 1917, and born to Eternal Life on January 4, 2013, at age 95, with her loving family by her side. Only daughter of Charles and Mabel Buck. Rachel was married to Stanley Applegate who preceded her in death after 55 years of marriage. She is survived by two children: Charles (Elaine) and Steven (Ethel); two grandchildren: Lea (Scott Sinclair) and Lisa (Casey Young); and seven great -grandchildren: Austin, Cora, Alayna, Kaylin, Dylan, Holly, and Isaac. Also survived by her beloved friend Bonnie Prodanovich (nee Boyd), cousins, and many dear friends. Rachel was born on her parents' tenth anniversary in Arnold, Nebraska, and graduated valedictorian of the Arnold High School Class of 1934. She graduated from the Kearney State Normal School and taught in a one-room school house. Rachel met her future husband, Stanley Applegate, on a blind date while attending the University of Colorado. She enjoyed music, composition, and reading of literature. Rachel dedicated herself to a life of service with the Community United Methodist Church, Elm Grove Women's Club and Literacy Services of Wisconsin. As a newlywed in Dallas, Texas she took Red Cross courses and worked as a nurse's aid at Parkland Hospital. Visitation will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Community United Methodist Church, 14700 Watertown Plank Road, Elm Grove, until the 11AM Memorial Service.
