Mr & Mrs Lang were born in Scotland in the year 1824. Mr Lang's birth occurring on the 15th of April, while his wife's natal day was Feb 27th.
They were married in Scotland in 1846 and the following year emigrated to America, locating in PA, where Mr Lang followed the carpenters trade for 4 years. On the expiration of that period, in 1851, he came to Scott Co, IA, settling on a farm a quarter of a mile east of Eldridge.
In 1886, having accumulated a handsome competence through the careful conduct of is agricultural interests, he left the farm and has since lived retired in Davenport.
Unto him & his were born 10 children, 3 of whom have passed away. Those who still survive are as follows:
Mrs Thomas Grieve & Mrs Agnes Brownlie, who still live in Davenport; Mrs Wm Hall, Mrs John Howe, Mrs R.J. Breckenridge, & J.B. Lang all of whom reside in Brooklyn, IA; Gavin J. Lang of Des Moines, IA.
Mr & Mrs Lang have since been called to their final rest, Mr Lang passing away on the 1st of July 1909, at the age of 85 years, while his wife died on the 22nd of Nov following.
