John was born February 9, 1931, in Houston, TX, the son of Calvin Rigger and Mary Viola (Plakunus) Risk. At a young age John moved with his family to Minneapolis, MN, where he graduated from Central High School. He married Jeri P. Alden November 29, 1948, in Mason City, IA. He worked for various companies in the Minneapolis area and attended North Central Bible College. He graduated in 1954 and the couple moved to Binford, ND, in 1957. He was Pastor for the Gospel Tabernacle A/G for 46 years; he also worked on the section line for the Burlington Northern Railroad and spent 15 years driving a school bus.
John will be remembered by his wife, Jeri, Binford, ND, daughter, Joy DeLIght (Dean) Land, Kulm, ND, two sons, Jeffrey Darwin (Tammy) Risk, Minot, ND, and Jay Darcy (Patti) Risk of Bismarck, ND; two grandchildren, one brother, Calvin (Carol) Risk, Green River, WY; two sisters, Nancy (Bill) Engquist, New Castle, CO, and Rose Alice Ross, Rifle, CO; several nieces, nephews and many close friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, two children, John Jr. and Pamela Jean; and one sister, MaryEllen.
