Ray Austin Peace, 78, of Thayer, died Dec. 23, 2005, at his home in Thayer, Mo.

He was born Dec. 24, 1926 in Oregon County, Mo., the son of the late Roy M. and Armintie Huddleston Peace.

He was united in marriage to Imogene Langley.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring and served as church treasurer for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene of the home in Thayer; three sons, Sony Smith and wife, Marla of Denver, Colo., Bill Pitchford and wife, Cindy of Thayer and Jack Peace and wife, Leanne of Columbia, Mo.; one special daughter-in-law, Sheila Smith of Thayer special cousin, Dorothy Ann Meeks of Barnhart, Mo.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Flora Rose of Hardy, and Kathrine Breeze of Oregon; a sister-in-law, Lorene Langley of Mammoth Spring; several nieces and nephews including James Langley and wife, Reva of Jonesboro, Ark., Peggy Taylor of Myrtle, Mo., and Jackie Cowens of Springfield, Mo.; special friends, Gina Tucker and husband Bobby of Thayer and Nancy Ames of Barnhart, Mo., and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jonny Keith and Robert "Bob" Smith; four brothers, Pleasant, Ralph, Ross and Willard Peace.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.
