Mr. Belcher was born March 14, 1944, a native of Sumter County, the son of the late Raymond Shaw Belcher and Pauline Reeves Belcher. He graduated from Americus High School and attended South Georgia Technical College. He was a self employed contractor and he served in the National Guard. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Carolyn Belcher of Americus; one son and his fiancé, Michael Belcher and Kim Taylor of Americus; two step-sons, John and Angela Dailey of Tupelo, MS., and Jerry and Shona Dailey of Ellaville; a step-daughter, Deborah and Donnie Poole of Ellaville; a brother, Jimmy and Bettye Belcher of Dawson; a sister, Sandra and Owen Upchurch of Conyers; two aunts, Jewell Reeves of Americus and Jane Hendrix of Jacksonville, Fl.. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
