Richard W. Hamilton, 73, of Shelbyville, formerly of Findlay, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday (March 20, 2006) at home.

Mr. Hamilton was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Shelby County, a son of Clifford and Dorothy May Waggoner Hamilton. He married Normalu Mitchell on Sept. 16, 1951, in Findlay. She survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Blake Hamilton of Tampa, Fla., and Stanton L. Hamilton of Champaign; a daughter, Jill Crain of Normal; a brother, Phillip Hamilton of Shelbyville; two sisters, Marjorie Parr and Mary Matlock, both of Shelbyville; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two granddaughters.

Mr. Hamilton served in the Army during the Korean War. He was rural letter carrier in Findlay, a farmer and a seed corn representative.

He was a postmaster in Assumption and Pana and retired.

He was a member of Shelby County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, Shelby Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, Findlay United Methodist Church, Findlay Masonic Lodge, Pana Rotary Club and Assumption Rotary Club.

Mr. Hamilton enjoyed music and golf.
