Harry D. Lough Dies; Funeral On Wednesday
Harry D. Lough, of 1714 Broadway, a retired Mt. Vernon real estate dealer, died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday in Good Samnritan Hospital. He had been in failing health for a long time. Mr. Lough was one of the city's best-known business men. He was a person with a rare sense of wit and through friendship with major league Baseball figures was a devoted follower of the national sport. He was a developer of some of the city's better-known subdivisions and at one time held an automobile dealership here. At the time of death Mr. Lough was 72 years, four months and eight days of age. Mr. Lough was a descendent of a famed Kentucky pioneer settler. He was born at Ladoga, Indiana, January 9, 1890, the son of Leslie and Stella (Neff) Lough. He was married in 1922 in Mt. Vemon to Rose Griffith Casey, who survives. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge. He was a member of the First Community Church. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Oakwood cemetery on Wednesday at 10:30 a. m., conducted by the Rev, Robert Freytag. Friends may call at the Pulley Funeral Home between 4 and 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Mr. Lough is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. C. E. Winn, of Salem, and Mrs. Frank J. Hayes, of Buffalo, N. Y.; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Gardner, of Ladoga; and three grandchildren. His parents and one daughter preceded him in death.
