Graveside services for Saada Shediac Abdullah, 86, will be on Sunday, October 19, at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, with Dr. Thomas Drury officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave.
Mrs. Abdullah died on October 15 in Gadsden, AL., where she had been living the past 5 years. She was born in Lebanon on December 27, 1927, where she met Abraham Abdullah in 1946 during his term of service with the U.S. Navy. They were married on January 4, 1948, in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Abdullah worked as a registered nurse for 38 years in area hospitals, with most of those years at St. Luke's Hospital. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church and loved her Lord, her family, and her garden.
Survivors include 3 children: Shirley (Ron) Abdullah Drury, John Abdullah, James (Bonnie) Abdullah; 7 grandchildren: Christina (Wes) Drury Ficken, Joy (Alex) Drury Breeden, Scott (Jennifer) Drury, Michael (Lizzie) Abdullah, Nicole Abdullah, Christopher Abdullah, Olivia Cone; and 7 great-grandchildren: Holly Ficken, Matthew Ficken, Charles Breeden, Samuel Breeden, Elizabeth Drury, Evelyn Drury, and Baby Abdullah, expected to be born in April, 2015. Mrs. Abdullah was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Abdullah and son, Robert Abdullah. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
