Allen G. Davis, Sr., 70 of New Bedford, died Sunday October 11, 1998 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth A. (Hopwood) Davis and son of the late George L. and Bessie (Pittsley) Davis.

He and his wife were married 46 years.

Mr. Davis was born in Lakeville and lived most of his life in New Bedford.

He was employed by Acushnet Company, Rubber Division for 38 years as a machine operator.

Mr. Davis was a World War II Army veteran who also served in the Maritime Service, the Marine Corps, and the Massachusetts National Guard.

He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed spending time with his family. He always seemed to know someone no matter where he went.

Survivors include his widow, two sons, three daughters, two brothers, a sister, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Gerald G. Davis.
