NESHEK, MARGE M.
nee Mucha
Menasha

Age 74, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 19, 2002, following a courageous battle with cancer. Marge was born December 10, 1927 in Neenah; the daughter of the late Joseph and Cacilia (Reitbauer) Mucha. She married Russell E. Neshek, Sr. on April 29, 1948, and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1993. She was a member of Whiting Community Baptist Church, Neenah. Marge loved spending time with her family and many friends, especially during the holidays and enjoyed preparing holiday dinners. We'll especially remember her turkey dressing, German potato salad, and chicken soup. Playing with her grandchildren and watching them participate in sports and music always delighted her. She made everything special, and we will miss her dearly.
Marge was Menasha's first and only woman Council President, having served as a Common Council member (alderman) for eight years. She continued to serve on city committees and remained active on numerous boards and committees including: Menasha Landmark Commission, Menasha Library Board, Menasha Senior Center Board and Planning Commission, Friends of the Menasha Library, Menasha Election Board - Chairman of District 2 Polls, Menasha Red, White and Blue Committee and Birthday Celebration, Winnebago County Committee on Aging Board, Advocap RSVP Board, Governing Board of Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Group, Triad, Senior Citizen's Police Academy, Menasha Historical Society Board, Menasha Action Council Board, Volunteer for the City Health Department, and Senior Statesman for Wisconsin.
Marge is survived by her four children: Vernon (Ellen) Graham, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Russell (Sue) Neshek, Jr, Menasha; Michelle (Ted) Grade, Menasha; Kim Neshek and his special friend Shari Brux, Menasha; seven grandchildren: Katie Neshek; Austin and Kordell Grade; Dawn (Tom) Starks; Tim (Michelle) Graham; Kristina (Tim) Alderdice; Melissa Graham; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harold Neshek; sisters-in-law: Monica Rymer and Dolores Neshek; numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell, sister Eleanor Ihrig, and brother Joseph Mucha, Jr.
The funeral service celebrating Marge's life will be held on Monday, March 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Whiting Community Baptist Church, Neenah. Friends may call at the Laemmrich Funeral Home on Sunday, March 24, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday, March 25, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Because of all her involvement in activities with family, friends and associates, Marge had an impact on more people than she ever realized. She will forever live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the staff of Appleton Medical Center for their loving care of our mom.
In the corner of our hearts is a place called memory, where we can go to find comfort. Though the ones we love may leave life as we know it, in our memory the love we knew will always carry on.
