Gladys Pennington age 95 of Sulligent, AL passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at her residence.

Born May 8, 1919 in Lamar County, Alabama, she is the daughter of the late William Warren and Virgie Palmer Mansell and the wife of the late PFC James G. Pennington.

She had lived in Sulligent most of her life and was a member of the Sulligent United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Adult Choir 30 years, Springfield Sunday School Class, Methodist Golden Agers, UMW Service Guild. She was also a life member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 8450, Charter Member of the American Legion, Gold Star Wives of America, Golden Circle Ladies Auxiliary VFW, Bronze Leader to Disabled American Veterans and Commanders Club VFW. Gladys had retired from Rays Store in Sulligent where she had worked for over Forty years.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who have been very loyal and supportive, 3 brothers-in-law, Frazier (Mary) Pennington, Travis (Rosie) Pennington, and Buck (Gloria) Pennington.

She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Special cousin, Inez Cantrell and brother in law Fred Pennington.

Services held Monday, October 20, 2014 at 2:00 pm from the Sulligent United Methodist Church with burial in the Crews Methodist Cemetery. Bro. Mitch Nethery officiating.

Visitation: Monday, October 20, 2014 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the Sulligent United Methodist Church.
