Jimmy Ray "Sandy" Carter was born March 2, 1948 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. His parents were Floyd and Dorothy Adamson.

Sandy moved to the Purcell/Dibble area in 1987. He was only 17 years old when he joined the Navy. He was a Vietnam veteran serving his country aboard the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier in 1965.

On October 30, 1970, Sandy married Evelyn Kay Dunn in Gainesville, Texas. They were blessed with two children, David and Danny. Sandy worked as a diesel mechanic. He loved spending time with his family, fishing and gardening. He had a heart of gold. He accepted people no matter what their circumstances.

Sandy passed from this life on Wednesday morning, October 15, 2014 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. He will be greatly missed by his family, loved ones and friends.

Sandy is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Kay Carter, his two sons, David Carter and wife Tammy of Purcell, Oklahoma and Danny Carter and wife Christie of Norman, Oklahoma, his grandchildren, Shawn Carter, Taylor Carter, Megan Moore, Hanna Carter, Justin Carter and Kaylea Eastwood and a very close friend, Richard Coffey of Gainesville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorothy Adamson, one brother, Clarence Carter and one sister, Margie Adams.

Funeral services for Mr. Carter are set for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the B. G. Boydston Funeral Home Chapel, located at 308 S.W. 3rd Street in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Pastor Chilles Hutchinson officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of B. G. Boydston Funeral Home in Lindsay.
