He founded and operated Madison County Flooring since 1964 which is now a third generation business.
He served his country in the Marine Reserves in the 161st Special Infantry.
He was a devoted christian and was a member of East Side House of Prayer. He was a member of the Blue Lodge #734 in Anderson where he was Master Mason 3rd Degree, Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis where he was a 32 Degree Master Mason, Murat Temple Shrine and Madison County Shrine Club. He as a former member of the Madison County Desert Patrol. He ran for Sherriff of Madison County in the 1970's. He loved his 1968 green Camaro Supersport Convertible. He loved and enjoyed his family, friends and profession.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Nancy Bair Stone; six children, John C. Bair Jr., Debra J. & husband Terry Burton, Christopher A. & wife Betty Bair, Sherry J. & husband John Valenti, Penny J. Bair, Jason D. Bair all of Anderson; a sister, Lou & husband Jack Martin of Anderson; two brothers, Delmos & wife Lannie Bair of Anderson and Fred & wife Carol Bair of Summitville; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and special brother-in-law, Larry & wife Marilyn Taylor of Lexington, Kentucky. The family wishes to give a special thanks to everyone at St. John's Hospital, the Cancer Center and the medical professionals that cared for him. He was a one of a kind man and was loved by everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo & Verna (Hayes) Bair; a son, William Thomas Bair; two brothers, Eddie Bair and Dewey ''Duke'' Bair; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Bair) Kidd and Loretta (Bair) Metzger.
