Fort Valley, GA - Sarah Bledsoe Bowers, 88, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Services will be held at 11:00AM, on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church, 1502 Knoxville Street in Fort Valley, with Rev. Bryan McPherson and Dr. Robert Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends beginning at 10:00AM until service time on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church. After the service, family will meet at the Fellowship Hall at Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church for a time of food and fellowship. Born in Dooley County to the late Robert and Emmie Bledsoe, Mrs. Bowers was a retired nurse at Peach County Hospital, and member of Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Mary Castle (Roland) of Athens, David Bowers (Pam) of Kathleen, Patricia Preskitt (Don) of Fort Valley, Margaret Bowers (Jim Fouts) of Fort Valley, and Dorothy Brewer (Jack) of Perry; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Jo Woodruff of Fort Valley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Judson Bowers; son, Randy Bowers; grandson, Terry Dickerson; and granddaughter, Denise Knight. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church, 1502 Knoxville St., Fort Valley, GA 31030. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
