Services for Sergio H. 'Sam' Cavazos, 71, Arp, will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 18, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with Reverend Mike Ford officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery near Chapel Hill.

Mr. Cavazos died Monday, October 13, 2014 at his residence in Arp.

He was born April 13, 1943 in Laredo to the late Santiago Cavazos and the late Josefina Garcia Cavazos.

He married Brenda Lou Sloan December 19, 1970 in Tyler and is a veteran of the US Army where he was in Special Forces.

He moved to Arp forty five years ago from Laredo and was district manager for Reliant Energy until his retirement in 2002.

He enjoyed his motorcycle, shooting guns with his grandchildren and he was of the Catholic faith.

Besides his parents, Mr. Cavazos was also preceded in death by a brother, Santiago 'Junior' Cavazos and a sister-in-law, Sylvia B. Cavazos.

Survivors include his wife of almost 44 years, Brenda Cavazos, Arp; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Jewel Cavazos, North Glenn, Colorado, and Jason and Jaclyn Cavazos, Arp; a brother, Robert Cavazos, Laredo; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Laura and Vito Ramirez and Rebecca and Robert Sepulveda, all of Laredo; six grandchildren, Jay Cavazos, Audrey Cavazos, Jasmine Cavazos, Ethan Cavazos, Jackson Cavazos, and Nyx Cavazos; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Vito Ramirez, Robert Sepulveda, Kendall Williams, Roy Golden, Greg Kirkley, Bret Swinney, Drew Swinney, and Robert Segroves. Honorary pallbearers will be James Sloan, Jose Lopez and Jackie Harris.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, October 17. Rosary will follow at 7:00 pm with Father Daniel Dower officiating.
