Victoria -- Joseph P. Scheck, 81, died Wednesday at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born June 1, 1891 and was a lifetime resident of the Victoria community.

He is survived by seven sons, Peter, Great Bend; Seraphin, Walker; Edwin, Russell; Victor, Victoria; Melvin, Russell; Linus, Macksville; Gilbert, Hays; six daughters, Mrs. Bertha Denning, Victoria; Mrs. Mary Weigel, Victoria; Mrs. Rubina Dinkel, Oakley; Miss Katie Scheck, of the home; Miss Leona Scheck, Russell; Mrs. Lena Meder, Pfeifer. One brother, Frank, Quinter; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Eva Spies, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Anna Wanda, WaKeeney; 37 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson.

He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Church, Victoria. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria, until the time of the service. The Daughters of Isabella will join in a parish wake service at 8 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary.
