Elizabeth Osterman-Bunyan Farley, 75, of Carmel, a homemaker, died of cancer Monday at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Born Feb. 9, 1914, in Swarthmore, Pa., she was a graduate of Connecticut College in New London, Conn., and had lived at Hacienda Carmel for the past four years, moving from Richmond, Va. Mrs. Farley was an active member of the Hacienda Carmel community and served on its library board. She had also served on the board of directors of the Darien, Conn., library. Her brother, John Albert Osterman, preceded her in death, and she is survived by her husband, Ernst; a son, John Bunyan of Darien; two daughters, Barbara Bunyan Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Christine Bunyan Whitman of Cincinnati; four stepsons, Ernest and Robert of Richmond, Va.; Felix of Washington, D.C. and John of San Francisco; five stepdaughters, Beauchamp Payne, Marion Farley Macdonald, Lucille Farley Coates and Maude Farley Baltzegar, all of Richmond, Va., and Louise Farley Williams of Norfolk, Va., four grandchildren; and 18 step-grandchildren. No local services are planned. Inurnment will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Connecticut College. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
