William T. Cox, Sr., 84, of Connersville, passed away at 2:15 AM Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Heritage House, where he had been a resident since August 2008.

He was born July 2, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the oldest of ten children of Arlie and Alice Wright Cox. When he was a child his family moved to Harrison, Ohio.

During the Korean War he served with the U.S. Army with the Army Corp of Engineers, earning the rank of Corporal. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and returned to Harrison for residence.

On July 16, 1955, he was married to Betty Jane Trabel of Saint Peters, Indiana. They raised five sons: Wilbur, Garry, William, Mark and Jerome. Mrs. Cox passed away October 25, 2001.

In 1956 the family moved to Connersville, when he became employed at Philco-Ford. He worked at Philco-Ford as a press operator until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of Saint Gabriel Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council #861. He was a former member of the American Legion, Saint Leon's Post, the Everton Lion's Club and former Treasurer of the Windjammer C.B. Club.

In his leisure, he enjoyed woodworking, especially making doll houses and doll house furniture.

Survivors include four sons: Wilbur J. Cox and wife, Rebecca of Connersville, Garry L. Cox of Portland, Indiana, William T. Cox. Jr. of Richmond, and Mark A. Cox and wife Davida of Connersville; six grandchildren: Bryan Cox and wife, Sylver of Everton, Amber Cox of Indianapolis, Sarah Cox and Corey Cox, both of Portland. and David Cox and Bria Cox both of Connersville; two great-grandchildren: Brayden Cox and Savannah Cox of Everton; three brothers: Donald Cox of Harrison, Ohio, Louis Cox of Bright, Indiana and Richard A. Cox of Mesa, Arizona; three sisters: Margaret Feller of Harrison, Ohio, Alta Meier of Brookville, Indiana and Rose Mary Dula of Rome, Georgia; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife, Betty Jane Cox, he is preceded in death by a son, Jerome Anthony Cox, who died January 16, 2010; his parents; two brothers: Arlie Cox Jr. and James Robert Cox; and a sister, Mary Alice Wilhelm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Herber officiating. Burial will be in Everton Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council Honor Guard. Friends may call at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home from 4-8 PM on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Gabriel Catholic School.
