PORTSMOUTH - Phebe P. Daughtry, 73, of 2621 Hickory St., the widow of Daniel Daughtry Sr. and a native of Newport News, died Tuesday in a hospital.

She was a member of St. John Baptist Church and its Relief Usher Board and Sons and Daughters Club and of the Mount Hermon Civic League.

Survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth Gray and Eugenia Reed of Portsmouth, Nancy Jenkins of Pocomoke City, Md., and Eunice Henry of Buffalo, N.Y.; four sons, Daniel Daughtry Jr. and William T. Daughtry of Boston, Joseph Daughtry of Atlanta, and Robert Lee Daughtry of Portsmouth; two sisters, Eunice Elm Williams and Kate Ely Turner of Portsmouth; two brothers, Joseph Ely of Boston and James P. Ely of Portsmouth; 26 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. John Baptist Church by the Rev. C. J. Freeman. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery with Fisher Funeral Home in charge. The body will be in church at noon Saturday.
