Alfred E. Tabor, Jr., age 83, of Sparkman, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2006.

He was born in Heber Springs on December 30, 1922. Mr. Tabor served as Mayor of Sparkman for eight years. He retired from the Ray White Lumber Company after 45 years of service. As a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sparkman he served as deacon for 48 years.

Mr. Tabor was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred E. Tabor & Pearl Tabor; a brother, Bill Tabor; and a sister, Velma Honea.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Brock Tabor of Sparkman; two daughters, Sherry (Carl) Mashburn of Little Rock, Ark. & Susan (Larry) Sharpe of Marion, Ark.; his grandchildren, Brian Mashburn (April), Laura Tolleson (Jeremy), Craig Mashburn (Courtney Sharpe); a brother, John Tabor (Dottie); and a sister, Maxine Shapley; a brother-in-law, Percy Honea; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Tabor.

The funeral services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Sparkman. The graveside services will be held at Sparkman Cemetery. The family ask that any memorials be made to the building fund of the First Assembly of God Church in Sparkman. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
