Daughter of Mary Jane Shroyer. Nellie's father is currently unknown.

She was first married to Aaron Collins on December 23, 1892 in White County, IN. To this union, nine children were born:

Infant Daughter Collins (1892-1892)
Harry Nolan Collins (1893-1977)
Freddie Eijoe Collins (1896-1969) - my great-grandfather
Jesse Gilbert Collins (1901-1980)
Myrtle Gladys Collins (1903-1999)
Goldie Bell Collins (1907-1997)
Wilbur Collins (1912-2002)
Wilson Collins (1912-1956)
Marshall Collins (1914-1987)

My dad relayed to me that great-great-grandmother Nellie poisoned my great-great-grandfather Aaron with arsenic after a 31-year marriage. When she was in court on a charge of murder, Nellie sat with her arms and legs crossed, tapping her foot. Her response to the judge was, "Yeah, I did it, because he used to beat me all the time". I don't know how long Nellie spent in jail, but her children, sympathetic towards their mother, vouched to have Nellie's sentence reduced. She was eventually released from prison after a short sentence and remarried.

Her second husband was William Alexander Greer (m. 1945).
