Alvin LeeRue Allen, 79, Brigham City, died Sunday, March 5, 1989, at home.

He was born April 22, l909, in Paradise, Utah, a son of Rory and Elizabeth Emma Howells Allen.

He married Polly Marvel Gurney on Jan, 21, 1944, in the Logan temple.

He had been a high priest in the LDS church and was an active temple worker.

He served in many positions in the church, including 40 years as ward and stake clerk. He had served as counselor in the bishopric, Sunday school teacher and MIA president. He served a mission to the Southern States in Floriday.

He had worked at Bear River Migratory Bird refuge for 41 years, retiring in January 1979.

He graduated second highest in his class at Box Elder High school and attended LDS Business college. He received a diploma in higher accountancy from LaSalle Extension university.

He devoted much of his life to genealogy and research work. His hobbies included photography, reading and nature. He also enjoyed being a carpenter and handyman around the house.

Surviving are his wife of Brigham City; three sons and two daughters: Larry Lee Allen, Seattle, Wash.; Fred Arvon Allen, Brigham City; Douglas Ray Allen, Sandy; Donna Jean Allen Bagley, San Diego, Calif.; and Marcia Ann Allen Thompson, Logan; 15 grandchildren.

funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Brigham City Tenth LDS ward chapel, 145 West 500 South.

Friends may call this evening {Wednesday} from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Olsen-Myers mortuary in Brigham City.

Interment will be in Brigham City cemetery.
