Shirley M (Karde) Nelson passed away in her sleep after a valiant struggle with Anaplastic Thyroid cancer on September 26, 2014.
She was born in Leadville, CO. on June 21, 1938.
She graduated from El Camino High school in 1956.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Hans H. Karde and Myrtle R. (Rogers) Karde and brother Gary G. Karde.
She is survived by her husband Richard (Dick) Nelson, their four children, Kim Bunce (Bob) of Olema, CA; Jill Nelson, Del Mar, CA; Deborah Tachis, (Bill) Rocklin, CA; Jeff Nelson, (Claudine) Marysville, CA; brother Norman Karde (Edith) Loomis CA; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and her ever faithful little dog, Scooter-II.
Services will be held at Sierra View Funeral Chapel 6201 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael, CA on Tuesday Oct. 14 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be private at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, Fair Oaks, CA. In lieu of flowers, Shirley has requested memorial donations be made to the National Corrections Museum project. Donations can be mailed either to the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, P.O.Box 348390t Sacramento, CA 95834-8390 or Folsom Prison Museum, 312 3rd Street, Represa, CA 95671. She will be dearly missed.
