Elizabeth was born to John and Elizabeth Tonks Clayton. Her early childhood was spent in Morgan, where she received her early schooling, attended High School. She married John C McAffee on March 17, 1894, at Morgan. She moved with her family to Wallsburg, where they farmed for many years. In 1916, they moved to the Lost River Valley of Idaho, settling at Darlington. She and John had thirteen children. In 1938 they moved to Challis, ID, where they resided until the time of her death at her son's home in Salmon, ID
