Janet Anderson, 80, of Rantoul passed away suddenly after a short illness on Thursday (Oct. 9, 2014) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

She was born on Feb. 21, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Joseph and Helen (Balata) Simecek. She married Harry E. "Andy" Anderson on Jan. 15, 1955 in Solon, Ohio. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Cynthia) Anderson and Steven Anderson; two daughters, Linda (Joseph) McLaney and Patricia Aguirre; two brothers, Daniel Simecek and Robert (Kathleen) Simecek; a sister, Jeanne Stainbrook; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was a 1952 graduate of Twinsburg High School. She served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean era.

She ran the "Better 'n' Grandma's Overnighters" in Rantoul for over 22 years. She was an enthusiastic volunteer in the Rantoul area and she was awarded the Rantoul Volunteer of the Year award several times.
