Marian Ilene Watts, 71, of Greer, widow of John Henry Watts, Sr., died on Friday, October 10, 2014.

Born in Durham, NC, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert Jerome and Beulah Frances Head Tripp.

Mrs. Watts graduated from Pacific Western University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Journalism and was a freelance writer. She was an active member of Good News Baptist Church where she served as clerk of the church.

She is survived by four children, John H. Watts, Jr., Grace I. Gaulke, Amy S. Wills, and Michael A. Watts; one brother, Bruce R. Tripp; two sisters, J. Elizabeth Glover and Vivian Darrow; and two grandchildren.

The visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with the funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. in the Northwest chapel. Burial will be at Westwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle Children's Home, 3931 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
