She was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. She was a founding member and parishioner of Faith Lutheran Church in Joliet, until moving to Florida in 1985 where she joined Faith Lutheran Church in Sarasota, Florida and remained a member until her death. She was an active member of the Sarasota Woman's Club. She also volunteered in the Emergency Department at the Doctors Hospital in Sarasota for 15 years during the latter part of her life.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Robert P. Walsh, Jr.; five loving children, Linda Sue (Ed) Akeman of Sarasota, Florida, Deborah McAllister of Cleveland, Tennessee, Barry Scott 'Scotty' (Judi) Kropf of Joliet, Marla (Ken) McCormick of Verona, and Bobbie Jean Kropf of Sarasota, Florida; two step-children, Steve (Laura) Walsh of Fenton, Missouri and Lisa McFarlin of Lombard; 12 cherished grandchildren; 25 dear great-grandchildren; loving brother, Robert (Ida) Porter of Morton Grove; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, LaVerne W. Kropf; her mother, Martha H. Thompson (nee Porter); and father, Earnest Porter.
