KEARNEY — Morris R. Geiser, 92, of Kearney died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Kearney with the Rev. Melody Adams officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. at Arnold Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Arnold to Elmer and Vera (Phifer) Geiser. He grew up in Arnold and graduated from Arnold High School in 1943, then did custom harvesting for several years.

On June 24, 1951, he married Ploma Weinman in Arnold. They farmed between Stapleton and Arnold until they moved to Kearney in 1956.

Morris worked at the Kearney Hub, then worked at Good Samaritan Hospital for 19 years before retiring as the director of maintenance in 1979. He then worked as the custodian at First United Methodist Church and owned and managed rental properties in Kearney.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kearney. He was an active member of the Methodist Men and Crusaders Sunday School class at the church. Morris enjoyed camping with his family. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed watching them grow. He was very intelligent, thoughtful, hardworking and kind. His greatest joy was putting others before himself.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Ploma of Kearney; sons, Roland Geiser and wife Janel of Tonkawa, Okla., and Rocky Geiser and wife Carmie of Kearney; daughters, Connie Faddis and husband Jim of Grand Island and Sheila Magee and husband Pete of Kearney; grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Bryan, Blake and Brittany Geiser, Keifer and Kayla Magee and Nathana Clay and husband Mitch; great-grandchildren, Rebekah, Daniel and Joseph Clay and Gatlin Geiser; sisters-in-law, Virginia Geiser and Melva Geiser, both of Arnold, and Jane Geiser of Darby, Mont.; and brother-in-law, Willis “Tiny” Thompson of Tulsa, Okla. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

He was a great man, father and teacher who will be missed by many.
