Margaret "Peggy" Jean (Roop) BOWSHER, 71, of Clovis, California, formerly of Lima, died February 23, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her children.
Peggy was born April 22, 1940, in Lima to Forest Ray "Tod" and Margaret "Peggy" Lenore (Leech) Roop. She was united in marriage on July 8, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lima to Raymond Lee Bowsher. They had two children together, Michael Bowsher of Clovis, CA and Kathleen Bowsher of Salinas, CA.
Besides her children, survivors include brothers Richard "Dick" and Joyce (Preuss) Roop of Elida; Don and Carol (Waltz) Roop of Findlay; and Wm. Tod and Sharon (Younkman) Roop of Clearwater, FL; brother-in-law Steve Bowsher of Virginia; sisters-in-law Diana (Bowsher) and Mike Bair of Troy; and Deborah (Bowsher) and Dale Rudisill of Troy; her aunt Mary (Roop) Courtney; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her in-laws Clifford and Grace (Wilson) Bowsher, as well as sisters-in-law Patricia Bowsher, Nancy (Bowsher) Anaya, brother-in-law Gus Anaya, and niece Barb Roop.
Peggy was a graduate of Shawnee High School, Class of 1958. She worked as a publications clerk for Dantel, Inc., from which she retired in 2001. She enjoyed going for walks around the neighborhood, gardening, watching "Days of Our Lives," emailing her many friends and family members throughout the country, and taking care of her cats Twinkie and Precious and her box turtle, Rexie. Peggy loved music and was a devoted attendee at her daughter's many music performances over the years. Peggy was a vibrant, energetic woman with a zest for life and an unwavering determination to live a life filled with quality moments, even after being devastated by a stroke on December 4, 2011. She was a devoted member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fresno, CA for thirty-six years and will be sorely missed sitting in "her pew" at the front and center of the congregation.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 3rd at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, Lima. Pastor James Couser will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Matthew Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lima. Friends and family may call from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, March 2nd at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
