Mr. Willie James Magwood, 63, of Moultrie, died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at Grant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Edward Maddox officiating, Chaplain Antonio Magwood, and the Rev. John Boatwright assisting. Burial followed at Strong Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers...Derrick Sampson, Anthony Sampson, Charles Sampson, Lavaska Magwood, Magnus Magwood, Marcus Magwood, Marc Magwood, Jerome Davenport and Aisha Murphy.

Born March 12, 1943, in Moultrie, Mr. Magwood was the son of Pearl Magwood and the late Booker T. Magwood Sr. He was a retired teacher and coach and was of the African Methodist Episcopal faith.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Magwood; three sons, Charles Sampson, Anthony Sampson, and Derrick Sampson; a daughter, Vickey Del Valle; his mother, Pearl Magwood; five brothers, Earnest Hall Jr., Howard T. Magwood, Robert L. Magwood, Jesse L. Magwood, and Booker T. Magwood Jr.; three sisters, Susie Magwood Thomas, Johnnie M. Magwood, and Christine Bryant; and ten grandchildren, Eric, Gary, Kimberly, Brittney, Brandon, Chaquetta, Brittney, Bernard, Azia, and Ronald.

Strong Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
