Mrs. Bonnie Mae Pope Ashworth, 91, of the Rock Run community passedaway on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Cherokee County Health and Rehab Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Ashworth was a native and lifelong resident of the Rock Run community. She was an active member of the Rock Run Baptist Church for over 44 years until failing health. She loved to cook for her family and friends and loved children.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ashworth was held Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Rock Run Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Tankersley, the Rev. Ricky Pollard and the Rev. Benny Reece officiating. Burial followed at Union Grove Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory directing.
Survivors include son; Gary Ashworth (Melita) Cave Spring, son-in-law; Donnie Gilley, Rock Run, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ashworth was preceded in death by her husband; J. C. Ashworth, daughter; Carol Naydean Gilley, an infant son, granddaughter; Heather Ashworth; four sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Ashworth was the daughter of the late Doy and Mae Pope.
