Lillian M. Ayers (1919 - 2014)

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. - Lillian M. Ayers, 95, of Shinglehouse, passed away Sunday (Oct. 5, 2014) in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, N.Y., after a short illness.

Born on May 3, 1919, in the Town of South Valley (formerly the Town of Elko), Cattaraugus County N.Y., she was a daughter of William M. and Mae (Crocker) Babcock. On Sept. 26, 1936, in Shinglehouse, she married Gilbert T. Morris, who passed away March 30, 1987. On Feb. 3, 1990, in Shinglehouse, she married Truman A. Ayers, who passed away Feb. 22, 1992.

Lillian attended school in Richburg, N.Y. She was a homemaker.

She was a former member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to read, crochet and play cards. She enjoyed listening to country music. She also was the composer of several country music songs that were published.

Surviving are a daughter, Viola ""Vi"" (Monte) Hathaway of Shinglehouse; a son, Emery W. (Ann) Morris of Alma, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and stepchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, Lillian was predeceased by brothers Clarence Lloyd Babcock Sr.,Ralph Darrel Babcock, Newton D. Babcock, Lenis Babcock, Willard J. Babcock Sr. and a sister Adeline E. (Babcock) Benson.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
