Virginia H. Chavez, 77, a lifelong resident of Sierra County, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the New Mexico State Veterans Home. She was born on August 15, 1933 in Hot Springs, NM to Sipriano G. And Romelia (Sedillo) Abila. Virginia was a cosmetologist and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She also taught catechism while in Deming, NM.Survivors include her sons - Miguel Chavez & companion, Yolanda Edwards of Deming, NM and Orlando Chavez & wife, AnaKay, of Dexter, NM; 8/grandchildren - Andrea Chavez, Erika Chavez, Aaron Chavez, Daniel Chavez, Miranda Chavez, Adam Chavez, Eric Chavez and Xavier Wright; 7/great-grandchildren - Samiya Thompson, Devon Thompson, Janeya Thompson, Steffany Chavez, Cody Coleman, Kaitlyn Coleman and Klayton Coleman; and her Aunt Elsie Armijo & husband, Chris. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Isabel A. Chavez. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Chapel of Kirikos Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and a Prayer Vigil will follow at 6:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church led by Deacon Adam Sanchez. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Don Hyatt, CSB officiating. Serving as Casket Bearers are Aaron Chavez, Daniel Chavez, Eric Chavez, Adam Chavez, Xavier Wright and Rick Armijo. Rite of Committal will follow in the Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery.Arrangements are by Kirikos Family Funeral Home, Inc., 303 N. Cedar St., TorC, NM.
