COTTONDALE Hazel C. Brewer, age 88, of Cottondale, died Dec. 4, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Martin, Rev. William Noe, and Rev. Lawrence Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Barger, and her mother, Savannah Barger.
Survivors include her husband, Marion R. Brewer of Cottondale; daughter, Shelia Brewer of Cottondale; sons, Lawrence Brewer of Wilmington, N.C., Robbie Brewer of Cottondale, and Danny Brewer of Cottondale; sisters, Ruth Stokes of Carrier, Miss., and Shirley Cook of Woodstock; brothers, Marvin Barger, M C Barger, and L.D. Barger, all of Cottondale; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Hazel spent most of her life as a homemaker in Cottondale taking care of her four children and her husband. Later in life, she worked along side her husband in their entrepreneurship endeavors establishing one of the first full service gas stations in the area. She is remembered as a strong and loving woman.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Brewer, Jeff Brewer, Jon Brewer, Garrett, Brewer, Justin Brewer, and Jordan Brewer.
