John C. Cassel, 77, 402 Adams Ave., died at 6:25 a.m. Sunday, June 29, 1997, at Dukes Continuing Care after an illness.
A life-long county resident, he was born on Dec. 3, 1919, in Peru to John W. and Pauline Siegfried Cassel.
He married Helen Louise Dotterer on Aug. 9, 1942. She survives.
Mr. Cassel was retired from Square D, where he worked for 38 years. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.
He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and a volunteer driver for the Red Cross.
Other survivors include three sons: John M. Cassel, Peru, Dennis E. Cassel, Peru, and Stephen E. Cassel, Peru; one daughter; Judith Michalek, Peru; three brothers; Jerry Cassel, Fort Wayne, James Cassel, Peru, and Robert Cassel, Peru; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, with the Rev. Virgil Barker officiating.
Burial is at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
