ACUFF, HAZEL C. SMELCER - age, 81, passed away Friday, June 25, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospice. She was a member of Alice Bell Baptist Church and the Mary Martha Sunday school class. She loved God, her church, her family and Alice Bell pool, where she was a charter member. She is preceded in death by Emil Acuff; parents, Ed and Rose Smelcer; sisters: Opal Acuff, Lou Turley and Peggy Phipps; brothers: Rev. Delmont Smelcer and Earl Smelcer.

Survivors: daughters and spouses, Teresa and Gary Peterson, Cindy and Chris Bayless; grandchildren: Tiffany and David Baker, Brittany Peterson, Christian and Cameron Bayless; great granddaughter, Logan Baker; sister-in-law, Mildred Smelcer; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Jean and Eldon Wishart.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nursing staff at St. Mary's Hospice. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Residential Hospice or Alice Bell Baptist Church.

Service, 8:00 p.m., Monday, Alice Bell Baptist Church, Rev. Toby Everett officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, Woodlawn Cemetery for interment service at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers: David Baker, Camron Bayless, Christian Bayless, David Bayless, John Hickman and Eldon Wishart. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 9 p.m. Monday at Alice Bell Baptist Church. Mynatt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
