Orem Man Succumbs

Edward Henry Franklin, 76, 1435 S. 760 E., Orem, died Friday at 12:15 p.m. at his home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1888, in Burlington, Kans., a son of Edward and Mary Oram Franklin. He married Nancy Ann McAlister July 5, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo.

As a young man he worked with his father as a stonemason and later owned and managed two beauty salons. He came with his wife to Utah in 1934 and settled in Monticello where they engaged in farming until, due to ill health, he retired and moved to Orem in 1964.

He attended the Christian Science Church.

He was a past member of the Dean Mendenhall-Provo Post 13, American Legion.

He loved animals, especially dogs.

He is survived by his wife of Orem; two daughters, Mrs. Volney (Bonnie) L? of Orem and Mrs. Helen Snyder of Salt Lake City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel in Provo with Karl Scherer, reader of the Christian Science church, officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday prior to services. Interment will be in Provo City Cemetery where full graveside rites will be accorded by the Dean Mendenhall-Provo Post 13, American Legion.
