Funeral services for Mrs. Willard Blakesley were held on Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Engstrom Funeral Home at 2:00 o'clock p.m., with Rev. C. E. Masters officiating. The pallbearers were Leo Blakesley, Lloyd Blakesley, Lester Blakesley, John Blakesley, Bob Blakesley and James Robertson. Interment was made in Lake Mary cemetery. Mrs. Willard Blakesley passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, at her home in Alexandria.
Jessie May Barnard was born on Aug. 15, 1875, at Cato, Wis. She attained the age of 79 years, 4 months and 19 days at the time of her death. At the age of 4 years she moved to Douglas county with her parents, making their home at Lake Mary township where she lived up until three years ago when she moved to Alexandria, where she has lived since that time.
On Oct. 1, 1891 she was married to Willard Blakesley who preceded her in death in 1946. Mr. and Mrs. Blakesley operated the Blakesley Resort at Lake Andrew for many years. This resort was one of the first started in this vicinity.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Keith Robertson (Reo) of Aitkin, and Mrs. Agnes Rooney of Alexandria; two sons, W. J. Blakesley of Aitkin and George Blakesley of Carlos, ten grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Two children preceded her in death.
