Rev. Fr. William LANDRAM
Bill was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on August 27, 1941. He received an AB Cum Laude from Harvard in 1963, and an MA from the University of Oklahoma in 1966. He was ordained in the deaconate in 1972 and served in Chicago and Wisconsin before coming to the Diocese of Olympia in 1979 and serving as deacon at Christ Church and St. Paul's, Seattle. God's call to Bill to serve the church as a priest followed him his adult life. He was faithful to that call, and was ordained priest in 1997. Since that time he has supplied in churches throughout the diocese, sometimes driving to great distances to very small congregations. Bill had a heart of a deacon and the soul of a priest. In his ministry with Integrity and AIDS patients he heard people's stories, walked with them in their journey, and advocated for their rights. He loved the liturgy, especially congregational singing. His intellect was evident in his sharp wit as well as his preaching and teaching. He was a writer, actor and was a former president of the Seattle Men's Chorus. Bill suffered a massive heart attack on the morning of December 18, 2003. He is survived by his partner, Santiago "Sonny" Zarate and Fido, his canine companion for many years. A requiem mass celebrating the life and ministry of the Rev. William "Bill" Landram will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, at St. Clement's Episcopal Church, 1502 32nd Ave. S., Seattle, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill's name can be sent to the Church of the Transfiguration, P.O. Box 55, Darrington, WA. 98241. Pray for the repose of the soul of Bill Landram, our brother in Christ, for Sonny, and for Bill's many friends who grieve his death and who will miss his presence in their lives.
