Gordon is a son of Sommers Hall and Harriett (Pearce) Davis. He married Josie Piskulla in 1903, they have seven children: Berniece, Dick, Betty, Norman, Hetty, Beatrice (b&d 1920) and George, the last two were twins. Josie died in 1920, George was given to the Sterling family to raise. They renamed him James and later adopted him.

Gordon appears on the 1880 and 1900 Censuses with his parents, Sommers and Harriett.

Gordon Sommers Davis, 80, of 3095 North Twenty-seventh, Kansas City, Kansas, died yesterday at Bethany hospital where he had been a patient a week.

He was born in Burlington, Kansas, and had been a resident of Kansas City, Kansas sixty years. Mr. Davis retired in 1957 after working six years as a stationary engineer at the Rockhill Manor apartments, 4235 Locust.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Berniece Cheyney, 1837½ North Fourteenth; Mrs Betty Brewer, 45 South Mill, and Mrs Hetty Abrew, Lampang, Thailand; two sons: Richard Davis, Jackson, Mississippi and Norman Davis, Higginsville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 o'clock Monday at the Warnick-Eads chapel. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
