Nelson F. Laughlin

Nelson F. Laughlin, 60, of Goode, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2005 at his residence following a short illness. He was the husband of the late Nellie Price Laughlin who passed away September 23, 2002.

Born in May 30, 1945 in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Vivian Edward Laughlin and the late Nora Lucy Goodman Laughlin; a sister, May Dobyns also preceded him in death. Mr. Laughlin was the owner of Laughlin Masonry and was a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children, Cheryl Coleman and C.J. of Madison Heights, Lisa Marks of Lynchburg, Crystal Laughlin and Cameron of Lynchburg, Clifton Laughlin and Brenda of Goode, Robbie Laughlin and Jennifer of Goode; five brothers, Pete Laughlin, Lawson Laughlin, Haden Laughlin, Clifton Laughlin, and Magoo Dobyns; three sisters, Nellie Breeden, Martha Hatter, and Diana Baldwin; eleven grandchildren, Cody, Courtney, Brittney, and Felicia Coleman; Ashley, Caitlin, Kirstin, and Kyle Laughlin; Tyler Day, Dakota Large, and Kevin Mays.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with Pastor Carlton Duck officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Goode. Visitation for family and friends will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road, and at other times at the residence, 1140 Colony Heights Road, Goode.

Contributions in memory of Nelson may be made to the Media Ministries of Gethsemane Baptist Church, P.O. Box 10152, Lynchburg, VA 24506. Nelson's family expresses their deepest thanks to Dr. John MacNeill and his staff and to all the Hospice personnel, for their love and excellent care given during his illness.
