Theodore 'Ted' Harold Berggren, the son of Erik and Esther (Dahl) Berggren, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on March 5, 1911 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 20, 2006, at the age of 95.

He grew up in Marquette and graduated from Chapman High School in 1929. Ted spent several years in construction, working on roads and dams.

On June 17, 1939, he was united in marriage to Georgia Isaac at Lexington, Nebraska. After their marriage they farmed the home place until they retired in 1975. They moved to Aurora in 1988. Georgia passed away on December 23, 1996. Ted has resided at Riverside Lodge in Grand Island for the last nine years.

Ted was a member of the First Christian Church, where he served on the church board. He served as a County Commissioner, on the Extension, Farmers Union and the Rural Fire Boards. Ted was a frequent visitor at the nursing homes in Aurora, where he played the piano.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, James (Deb) Berggren of Grand Island and Jerry Berggren of Lincoln; 4 grandchildren, Jeff Berggren of Grand Island, Scott Berggren of Oakland, California, Jaci (Troy) Fry of Grand Island and Steve (Jessette) Berggren of Kearney; 2 great-granddaughters, Nellie and Lanie Fry of Grand Island.
