Mrs. Arnola Jane Cowell Collins, 82 of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Clarksville, AR. She was born June 5, 1932 in Lamar, AR to Virgil and Dora Belle (Torix) Cowell.
Arnola Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and wife. She adored her family and was always seen with a smile on her face. She volunteered at the Presbyterian Thrift Shop and loved music, singing and playing the guitar. Arnola served on the Clarksville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners from June 2000 until her death. Before and during these years she also held the dual office of Resident Council President where she represented the tenants of the Clarksville Housing Authority planning resident events and improvements to the properties.
Mrs. Collins is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Ray Collins; daughter, Vernie Jane; four brothers, Lindsey Cowell, Leonard Baker, Lester Cowell, Bert Cowell; and one sister, Florence Clayborn. Mrs. Collins is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Breedlove and husband Bill of Clarksville, Teena Malanga and husband Anthony of Monterey, TN; sons, Eddie Collins and wife Cheryl of Brock, TX, Rickey Collins and wife Viola of Seffner, FL; one brother William Leon Cowell of Hammond, LA; ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 5 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., October 6 at East Mt. Zion Trinity Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Crossroads Cemetery with Redell Shatwell, Joe Fetters, Clarence Cowell, William Smith, Steve Fetters, Donnie Cowell, Calvin Cowell, Calvin Cowell, Junior Clark and Ronnie Cowell serving as pallbearers.
Following the funeral and grave-side service, the family will meet at the Christian Family Center at East Mt. Zion Trinity Baptist Church for a luncheon. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home
