REAL NAME - ORA A. WOODMAN

Ora and Maude were married Feb 1896 at Chandler, Lincoln, OK. 5 children were born to them 2 of which died at an early age. The 3 surviving children were Pansy V Woodman Bertram, Zella Pauline Woodman Beckworth and Lawton A Woodman.

He worked for the Jingle Bob Ranch in Chaves County. He was also a scout for the U. S. Calvary and had been at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Ft. Peck, Montana, and Ft. Laramie, Wyoming. He also drove stagecoaches in Lincoln County.

Uncle Kit Carson was Ora A Woodman of IL; Two Braids, escaped Apache Captive; Tommy Two Braids Stringfield, survivor of the McMullen County, TX, 1870 massacre; and finally, Uncle Kit Carson, no relation to Kit Carson.

He traveled for five seasons with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show

UNCLE KIT CARSON'S LAST RITES SLATED (Sunday 10-27-1957)

The Rosary for William K. (Uncle Kit) Carson, 99, will be recited at 8 tonight in Ballard Chapel.

Uncle Kit, a nephew of the famed Kit Carson, died Saturday morning in St. Mary's Hospital as the result of pneumonia and exposure.

He was a native New Mexican, born August 7, 1858 in Ft. Union.

Requiem Mass will be said at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow in St. Peter's Church by the Rev. Martial Schmidt, O.F.M., pastor of St. Piux X. Mission, of which Mr. Carson was a member.

Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.
