Lloyd Zihlman rites Tuesday

MT. PLEASANT - Lloyd C. Zihlman, 79, of Salem, died Sunday at the Henry County Health Center.

Funeral services for Zihlman will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Weir Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Craig DuBois officiating. Interment will be in the Lockridge cemetery. Friends may call as desired at the Weir Funeral Home where a memorial has been established to the Henry County heart fund.

Born July 2, 1902 near Lockridge, Zihlman was the son of Lucas and Mida Essley Zihlman. He married Amanda M. Armstrong of Keosauqua on Aug. 15, 1973.

Zihlman farmed with his father and worked at the IAAP in Burlington for 15 years before retiring in 1968. He attended Faith Lutheran Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Mt. Pleasant.

Surviving are his wife, of Salem, one stepson, Leonard Beckel of Brighton; two stepdaughters, Velma Keller and Thelma Eckwall, both of Fairfield; one brother, Rollie of Fairfield; six sisters: Alma Jacobs and Vera Wehrle, both of Burlington; Gladys Swailes of Rome; Edna Vandersnick and Leora Clark, both of Mt. Pleasant; and Helen Wixom of Keokuk; nine step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
