Bertel Boe, 84, of Panama City, FL passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014. "Boe", as he was affectionately called, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1930. In 1971, he moved with his family to Panama City from Ayr, Scotland. Boe retired from the USAF after twenty years as an aircraft mechanic. He proudly served his country in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his son, Steve Boe (Amy) and daughter, Cheryl Spangler; one brother, Sivert (Astrid); two sisters, Marie and Lil; seven grandchildren, Walt Spangler (Tara), Stephen Spangler, Jenny Spangler, Jeff Boe, Ryan Boe, Bethany Boe and Daniel Boe; three great-grandchildren, Mason Boe, Kiana Spangler and Kailea Spangler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sigurd and Johanne Boe; his wife, Ella (McFarlane) Boe; son Jeff Boe; and sister, Oline Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Craig Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.
