Mrs. Keegan

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann Keegan were held Friday morning from the Devaney Funeral Home to St Martin's church, Cascade, at nine o'clock. Rev. Wm. Mullen, assistant pastor, and Rev. J. J. Leen, pastor of Sacred Heart, Fillmore, officiated at the services at St. Martin's with Rev Mullen reading the mass of requiem and Rev Leen assisting. Interment was made in the Cascade Catholic cemetery. Both priests said prayers at the graveside.

Casket bearers were six nephews, Orville Skahlll, Raymond Skahill, Charles Skahill, Dr. J. L. Keane, Orland Boyle and Loran Boyle.

Mrs. Keegan, a noble soul and a grand woman died suddenly of heart disease at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vincent Driscoll, Bernard, at 6:45 in the evening of November 19. Demure and humble during her life, Mrs. Keegan personified the Christian woman. Her attributes, both spiritual and material, were bounded by the tenets of the faith in the Lord. She was an admirable character and everyone deeply laments her passing from this life.

Mary Ann, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Skahlll, was born on the family homestead in Temple Hill, Washington Twp., March 14, 1866. She was married to John Keegan at St. Peter's Church, Temple Hill, on February 16, 1889 and they always followed the occupation of farming.

Surviving is her daughter, Mrs. Driscoll, and several grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, and sisters and brother, Agnes Skahill, Mrs. Robert Keane, Mrs. Austin Boyle Sr., and Leo Skahill.

Preceding her in death were her husband, one son, James, and the following brothers and sisters, Sister Mary Callista, Miss Clara and John, James and Thomas.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mrs. Mary Skahill and Mrs. Carl Hayes of Dubuque; Mrs. Clare Sullivan of Hopkinton; Mrs. Mae Houlahan, Mrs. Roy Keegan and Mrs. Hugh Leonard and family, Ryan; and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fangmann and children, Herbert, Loras and Aileen, of Dyersville.
