COVINGTON -- Mary Evelyn Russell, 88, died at 2 a.m. Saturday Aug. 25, 2007, at The Waters of Covington.

She was born in Hume, Ill., on Oct. 6, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Emma Jane Staley Dick. She lived most of her adult life in the Danville, Ill., and Perrysville, Ind., areas. She also spent 18 years in Lake Panasoffkee, Fla.

Mrs. Russell had worked at the Danville Veterans' Administration Hospital and was a housekeeper in Danville and Covington. She also worked in the Lake Panasoffkee public schools and was an active member of the Oaklawn Presbyterian Church in Danville and later the Perrysville and Lake Panasoffkee United Methodist churches. She especially enjoyed quilting, gardening, music, reading and cooking for family gatherings.

She married Roy Clarence Russell on May 6, 1938, in Danville, Ill. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1995.

Surviving are six children, Bill Russell of Tacoma, Wash., Ron Russell of Danville, Rosemary French of Covington, Connie Russell of Kenosha, Wis., Don Russell of Danville and Mike Russell of Perrysville.

A memorial celebration is Saturday in Covington.
