Wabash, Ind., Nov. 22. - Special.
In the death of George W. Creighton, aged 76 years, all Wabash was shocked, for he was ill but three days, having contracted a cold at an entertainment, and it was not known he was critically ill. He was prominent in Methodist circles and held many important positions of trust in that denomination.
Mr. Creighton's many admirable qualities of head and heart, his unfailing geniality, his broad and sympathetic nature and the model life he lived won for him the respect and love of a large circle of acquaintances. As the years went by and the people of Wabash came to know him better the more profound became their appreciation of his high character and no man stood higher than did Mr. Creighton at the close of his long and useful life.
In his home the relations of Mr. Creighton were ideal; always kindly and considerate. He was devoted to his family circle. His death in the fullness of years is a severe blow to his faithful and loving wife and to the children and grandchildren, whose lives had been so closely interwoven with his own. Today brief funeral services were held at the residence. The Rev. D. H. Guild, of the First Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. J. J. Fred, of the Wabash street church, officiating. The body was taken to Louisville for interment in Cave Hill cemetery, beside the graves of his parents.

The body of George Creighton, a former resident of Louisville, who died in Wabash, Ind., arrived in this city at 7 o'clock last night and was taken to Pearson's undertaking establishment, Third avenue and Chestnut street. Those who accompanied the body were Mrs. Creighton, W. J. Creighton, a son, and William C. Cantrill, a son-in-law. Members of the Creighton family left this city seven years ago and established a hardware and plumbing store in Wabash.
Mr. Creighton's death was due to a complication of diseases and came after an illness of four days. The end came at 11:45 o'clock Saturday night. He was born in Philadelphia, Penn., October 11, 1833, and later moved to Lexington, Ky. In 1855 he married Miss Martha E. Kidd and resided in Lexington until 1866, when he moved to this city and established a house-furnishing store. The business was conducted under the name of Creighton & Son and the first store was located on Third avenue between Market and Jefferson streets. Later it was moved to a building on Market street between Second street and Third avenue, and in 1901 the business was sold to Charles New & Co. A year later the family moved to Wabash and had since resided in Indiana. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, W. J. Creighton, and one daughter, Mrs. William C. Cantrill of Indianapolis.
Mr. Creighton was a member of the Improved Order of Heptasophs and a member of the Royal Arcanum. While Mr. Creighton lived in Louisville he was an active worker in the Broadway Methodist church, being one of the church officers and at the time of his death he was a member of the First Methodist church in Wabash.
The funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at Pearson's chapel and the services will be conducted by the Rev. B. M. Messick. The interment will be in Cave Hill cemetery.
