Buford E. Alexander died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at 1:30 a.m. at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 85, a resident of Baker and a native of Lawrence County, Miss. He was a retired master carpenter.

Visiting at Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home. Visiting at Faith Baptist Church, Baker, until religious services, conducted by the Rev. Tom Simmons. Burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Thornton, Baker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Basil and Shirley Alexander and Blake and Peggy Alexander, all of Baker; a brother, Leo Alexander, Tylertown, Miss.; 10 grandchildren, Cathy Kent, Basil Alexander Jr., Shawndell Filbert, Debbie Wallace, Julie Belk, Becky Staudt, Kenny Alexander, Polly Morales, Wayne Thornton and Michael Thornton; and 15 great-grandchildren, Lance Kent, Brandi Alexander, Chase Alexander, Joanna Filbert, Ryan Wallace, Amanda Wallace, Zach Woodward, Alex Belk, Carmen Belk, Mason Thornton, Brandon Alexander, Cameron Alexander, Ashlyn Alexander, Conner Thibodeaux and Hannah Staudt.

Preceded in death by his wife, Bertile Alexander.
